Police arraign senator Yarima for armed robbery

Yes! Former governor of Zamfara state and serving senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Sani Ahmad Yarima Bakura and 29 were on Friday arraigned at a Zamfara High Court over alleged conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

The police took the men to the Zamfara High Court in Gusau on alleged conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Counsel to the police, Mr  Oloye Torugbene,  sought the leave of the court to hear the case, pursuant to the Criminal Procedure, to prosecute the case.

In her ruling on the application, the judge, who is also the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Kulu Aliyu, said the court was competent to handle the case.

Aliyu urged the prosecutor to serve the accused persons with all the relevant documents and fixed Jan. 13, 2014 for hearing.

According to available information, it was Hon. Ibrahim Shehu, representing Gusau/Tsafe constituency that informed the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar in June that some people mobilised thugs to kill him and that during the incident, the attackers removed large sum of money from his vehicle.

The Inspector-General of Police set up an investigation that led to the court case.

Earlier this year, Senator Yarima was involved in the debacle of the child marriage law which generated criticism from Nigerians, especially celebs.

Mourinho blasts Lukaku for 'talking too much'

Jose Mourinho has hit out at on-loan forward, Romelu Lukaku, chiding him for talking too much.

The striker had claimed he has had no contact with Mourinho since he left Chelsea for loan at Everton at the start of the season.

"Romelu likes to speak," he continued. "The only thing he didn't say is why he went to Everton on loan.

"The last thing I said to him was, 'Why do you never say why you are not here [at Chelsea]?' It is something he should think about, why he is not with us."

The Portuguese also says there is no truth in the reports that he recently held a meeting over a move for Jackson Martinez.

He dismissed reports linking Chelsea with Porto hitman Jackson Martinez, and insisted the Blues will not buy any striker in January.

Rumours originating in Portugal and picked up in England suggested that Martinez's agent was in London earlier this week to hold talks about a move to Stamford Bridge.

But Mourinho has refuted the notion, and went on to say that there were no plans to improve the club's front line despite recent injuries to Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto'o.

"The Porto striker? What I read a couple of days ago that his agent was meeting me in London is not true," he told the press.

"In the January market we won't buy any striker, we'll go to the end of the season with Fernando, Samuel and Demba Ba."

The manager also confirmed that Eto'o and David Luiz will miss Sunday's match against Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

Justin Bieber ordered to clean up his mess in a hotel

Pop star, Justin Bieber has been ordered to clean up his mess by the mayor of the Gold Coast in Australia after the artiste spraypainted the wall of a hotel during his "Believe" tour.

The abstract graffiti was painted in the tennis court area of the QT Hotel on the Gold Coast, 80 km (50 miles) southeast of Brisbane, and posted on Bieber's Instagram page, where it has attracted more than 545,000 "likes".

The images are of a one-eyed blob with teeth in bright pink, various monsters in splashes of color, Pac-Man ghosts and a take on Spongebob Squarepants with crosses as eyes.

According to a spokesman for Mayor Tom Tate who spoke with Reuters, "this eyesore has no place in the city, if that's the example Justin wants to set, it's really unfortunate. But at the end of the day it'll get cleaned up, whether or not he decides to."

The mayor's office sent a "graffiti removal kit" to Bieber at the hotel but the singer had already left for Sydney for his concerts on Friday and Saturday.

The mayor also sent a tweet directly to Bieber saying "Glad you had a great time on Australia's #goldcoast. Hope to see you back soon to clean up your mess. Make me a #belieber".

He has yet to hear back from Bieber, who spray painted a wall at a hotel in Rio de Janeiro earlier this month.

The local council has ordered the QT Hotel to paint over the graffiti but the hotel defended the pop star's actions.

"The piece of artwork will be left for fans to enjoy," it told Reuters in an email. "We believe it is a wonderful addition to the colorful Gold Coast arts scene."

Melissa Victor, a publicist for Bieber at Universal Music Group in New York, declined to comment.
